CASTLE is sponsoring its first annual Iowa 1:1 student video contest!
What we’re looking for
Student-created videos that
- illustrate the power of having school laptops, and
- inspire other students, parents, educators, and policymakers!
How to enter
Students must submit a video of 4 minutes or less that addresses one or more of the following questions:
- How has having a school laptop 24–7 enhanced your learning?
- What has having a school laptop 24–7 meant to you (and perhaps your family)?
- What can you do with your school laptop that you weren’t able to do before?
Videos must be prepared by students. Judges will not consider videos that appear to be the work of an adult rather than a student.
The video can be sent to email@example.com as an original file or as a URL, along with the student’s name, grade, school, town, e-mail, and mailing address. If sent as a URL, we must be able to download the video to a hard drive. All submissions become the joint property of both the student and CASTLE, available to the world under a Creative Commons 3.0 Share-Alike license (see http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0).
Who is eligible
Any student who currently attends a 1:1 laptop school in Iowa.
Videos must be submitted by
May 25 June 1.
Two new iPads will be awarded, one for the elementary/middle school division (grades K-8) and one for the high school division (grades 9–12). We also may award runner-up and honorable mention prizes or certificates. All contest participants will be notified no later than June 15.
A five-judge panel will review all submissions for creativity, strength of message, originality of content, and ability to inspire others. The panel will consist of both CASTLE staff and 1:1 educators from outside Iowa. We reserve the right not to award prizes if we receive submissions of insufficient quality or quantity.
We will heavily publicize winners and other submissions through various online and print channels. By entering this contest, entrants agree to permit CASTLE to publicize their name, information, and any materials submitted to CASTLE.
